As soon as Emily Davies arrived at 马会论坛鈥檚 Rowe School of Business, she jumped into student life: volunteering, getting involved on campus and having a good time while doing it.
鈥淕oing to class and then home every day was not enough. I had to find other ways to be involved,鈥� says Emily, originally from Orillia, Ont.
听
She served in various roles on the 马会论坛 Commerce Society, the largest student society on campus, becoming president in her final year while also working on a multitude of initiatives. She helped organize the 2013 JDCC conference and competition, the largest case competition ever hosted by 马会论坛 with over 550 students from across Canada in attendance.
听
One of Emily鈥檚 particular passions has been charitable work. She helped organize a team of Commerce students who worked to raise over $35,000 for prostate cancer and men鈥檚 health awareness during Movember 2013. They also raised over $12,000 for the IWK Foundation and Camp Goodtime during the National Inside Ride 2013 campaign. The success of those and other campaigns got the Commerce Society named the Most Impactful Levied Society of the Year by the 马会论坛 Student Union for 2013-14.
Emily听completed all this while also participating in three co-op work placements. She says the chance to get, 鈥渞eal-world exposure to the professional environment is what made me choose 马会论坛; I originally came here for the amazing co-op program.鈥�

At this year鈥檚 Student Impact Awards, she was one of six students to receive a 马会论坛 Student Union 鈥淕old D鈥� in recognition of her involvement and achievement in campus life.
听
Although she plans to move to Toronto after finishing her Bachelor of Management degree,听Emily says she, 鈥渇ell in love with the university and with Halifax. The East Coast will always feel like home.鈥�
